'Trials Evolution' team focused on Xbox Live, no plans for retail

By
Trials Evolution developer RedLynx has no plans to release the game at retail.

In an interview with Digital Spy, RedLynx co-founder Antii Ilvessuo said that the company is focused on Xbox Live.

"We have been really focused on making an online game, and a big part of Trials is always online and connecting you with your friends," revealed Ilvessuo.

"So Trials HD was in triple retail pack, and I don't know the exact numbers, but not everyone got connected. So if you have Xbox live and you are connected, you get Trials Evolution. You can play with your friends and compare scores, and find new stuff.

"So that's why for now it is part of Xbox Live. We have no plans to release a Trials game beyond XBLA at the moment, as we are focused on this platform."

Ilvessuo also spoke about the game's improved level editing features, which have already been used to create a top-down racing game and a first-person shooter.

"When we created the level editor, we didn't have the idea to create a first-person shooter or a ball rolling game, but it just happened after experimentation," he said.

"It takes time to learn how to do those things, to learn the skills, and there are only two people at the moment who can do it. But what happens if we have a community of 100, or 1,000 people who are talking to each other, sharing ideas on how to use the controls? It will be an even faster learning process than ours."

Trials Evolution was announced last June. It adds outdoor racing, competitive multiplayer and the ability to share custom tracks with anyone in the world.

Trials Evolution will be released for Xbox Live Arcade in April 2012.
