The free-to-play title is the spiritual successor to Microsoft's popular but long-absent Flight Simulator series, featuring realistic flight controls and plane models.
After downloading the free game, players can fly the amphibious ICON A5 monoplane over the Hawaiian islands.
Users who sign into their Games For Windows Live account through the game will receive the free Boeing Stearman biplane and the option to purchase additional planes. Three DLC planes are currently available - the Vans RV-6A, the Maule M-7-260C utility aircraft and the P-51 Mustang fighter plane.
Users can also purchase the Hawaiian Adventure Pack DLC, featuring hundreds of miles of Hawaiian islands to fly over, 20 new missions and the Vans RV-6A plane.
More content packs and planes will also be released in the future.
