Minecraft will have split-screen multiplayer, it has been revealed.

The console port of the PC title will allow up to four people to use on a single screen, while a total of eight players can play within the same session online with jump-in jump-out play.

The Xbox Live Arcade edition will be the "most approachable" edition of the game, with a "comprehensive" tutorial that lasts between 15 and 20 minutes, lead producer Roger Carpenter told Digital Spy.

Meanwhile, instead of going online and checking the Minecraft wiki for Crafting outcomes, every element discovered will show what it can be combined with in-game, but won't tell the player the end result.

Good controls were also a priority for the port, which Carpenter said "took a lot of time" to "make it feel really good" on a controller.

Minecraft will be available on Xbox Live Arcade this Spring.
