Fez was awarded the 'Seumas McNally Grand Prize' at yesterday's ceremony (March 7) in San Francisco, while Frozen Synapse secured the 'Audience Award'.
On accepting the 'Grand Prize', creator Phil Fish, who spent five years on Fez, said: "Thank you so much... This means the world to me. Five f**king years. I don't know what to say... Thank you."
Dear Esther, which was up for four awards, took home 'Excellence in Visual Art', with other winners including Beat Sneak Bandit for 'Best Mobile Game' and Spelunky for 'Excellence in Design'.
Last year's IGF 'Grand Prize' winner was Minecraft, which also secured the 'Audience Award'.
