Announced last week, the sequel will be once again developed by Junction Point and Deus Ex creator Warren Spector.
Touted as the first video game musical, Epic Mickey 2 will see characters express themselves in song at multiple points in the adventure, using original music and lyrics.
It will feature co-operative play, with one player controlling Mickey while the other takes on the role of Disney's first mascot Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Mickey will retain his ability to use paint and thinner on the environment, which will be complemented for puzzles by a remote control Oswald wields to manipulate electricity.
Player choices will once again affect the events of Epic Mickey 2, and can even result in different songs during the musical portions depending on Mickey's actions.
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2 will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii by the end of 2012.
