Wii U Daily has reported that a Wii U release date was contained in an internal email sent to staff at Japanese retailer Media Land.
The leaked Media Land email reportedly suggests a November 18 release date for Wii U in North America, followed by a Japanese release the following week.
Nintendo has historically released the Gamecube on November 18 and the Wii on November 19, making the suggested date consistent with Nintendo's past systems.
However, the rumoured release date has been brought into question as it is uncommon for a Japanese retailer to receive a console's launch information for other territories, especially this far in advance of the suggested date.
Wii U Daily's credibility was also brought into question by Kotaku, which reported that the site had previously suggested a Rockstar financial report announced Grand Theft Auto V for Wii U when the original source had in fact been an analyst unaffiliated with Rockstar.
Prior rumours have suggested the Wii U could be anywhere between twice as powerful as an Xbox 360 and similar in power to Xbox 360.
Nintendo is expected to announce release details for Wii U at E3 2012 this June.
