Announced late last year, DiRT Showdown is billed as a "new experience" for the series, focusing on competitive racing elements with an emphasis on boosts, tricks and crashes.
Multiplayer will be a large focus in the game, with options including local split-screen play, eight-player online and YouTube integration. Players can also challenge their friends to Showdown Challenges to compete even when they are not online.
Julian Widdows, who is vice president of development at Codemasters, described the title as a "a new theatre of racing with [an] emphasis on accessibility and fun" when it was first announced.
DiRT Showdown will be available in May 2012 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
