John Gatins (writer on Real Steel) is said to be in talks with the publisher about developing the project for the big screen, based on a pitch by George Gatins (executive producer on She's Out of My League). Warner Bros, Sony and Paramount have been linked with the film, with the latter leading the chase.

Transformers helmer Michael Bay previously directed a trailer for the latest entry in the racing series, Need for Speed: The Run. It is yet to be confirmed whether he will be involved in the movie.

Need for Speed: The Run was released for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS and PC in November 2011 in North America and Europe.

EA is yet to officially confirm that the franchise will be adapted for cinema.
