Released today, the app allows users to view their Facebook and Twitter feeds in the style of Star Wars's opening sequence the "crawl".
The free app syncs users' social feeds together in one place, and also enables fans to purchase a copy of the Xbox 360 game.
"We are literally putting 'the Force' directly into people's phones to help launch Kinect Star Wars," reads a statement from Microsoft.
"Fans will be able to carry a piece of the Star Wars universe in their pockets and, like the new game for Xbox 360, immerse themselves in the incredible world of one of the most enduring entertainment franchises like never before."
Kinect Star Wars features five game modes, including Podracing and Rancor Rampage, and lets players wield their own lightsaber in the Jedi Destiny story mode.
It also features the Galactic Dance Off, which contains dance moves inspired by the Jabba The Hutt scene from Return of the Jedi.
Kinect Star Wars launched earlier this month, exclusively on Xbox 360 for use with Kinect.
