New features include personalised user profile pages, enhanced friends lists with public and direct messaging, an activity feed of your friend's accomplishments and the ability to connect Rockstar Social Club with Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Starting this Wednesday, May 9, the Rockstar Social Club will also add the ability to create and maintain crews. Crews are Max Payne 3's version of clans, allowing players to build teams with their friends to more easily connect for multiplayer sessions.
Crews won't just be limited to Max Payne 3, with Rockstar previously announcing that they will carry over into the multiplayer for Grand Theft Auto 5 once it releases.
Rockstar Social Club first launched in 2008 alongside Grand Theft Auto IV. It was used with both Red Dead Redemption and last year's L.A. Noire to unlock special Social Club exclusive downloadable content.
Max Payne 3 will be released in North America on May 15 and Europe on May 18 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and then on June 1 for PC.
