'Hitman Absolution' release date announced, sniper spinoff detailed

By
Hitman Absolution will be released globally on November 20, Square Enix has announced.

The upcoming Hitman sequel will be preceded by the recently-outed Sniper Challenge DLC, which is available exclusively to pre-order customers from May 15.

The standalone DLC will be available to download from Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam. The PC version releases on June 1.

Sniper Challenge sees Agent 47 attempt to assassinate Stallion Armaments CEO Richard Strong, Jr from a roof-top building overlooking a party.

Using an Agency Kazo TRG sniper rifle, which will be transferred to the main game on release, players must take out members of Strong's entourage, search for unlockables and take advantage of score multipliers.

Sniper Challenge also features global leaderboards and competitions, which can be tracked, alongside participating retailers, on the game's official website.

Officially unveiled at last year's E3, Hitman Absolution will include new gameplay features, improved enemy intelligence and a new 'Instinct' mode that will help players blend into certain roles.

Described as the "most ambitious game in the series yet", the stealth title features a "living and breathing world, where every moment can become a story".

IO Interactive told Digital Spy that Hitman Absolution will have a "more personal story" in than previous games.

A prequel novel titled Hitman: Damnation will be released alongside the game, penned by former James Bond author Raymond Benson.

Hitman Absolution: Professional Edition is available to pre-order now.
