After only five days of availability, Microsoft has revealed that Mojang's world-building sim has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.
To put the figure in perspective, Microsoft provided a few more Minecraft statistics. 4 million Minecraft multiplayer sessions have been started on Xbox 360, coming out to 2.4 million hours of spent playing with others. In total, users have played 5.2 million hours of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.
It was already revealed last week that Minecraft broke launch day sales records on Xbox Live Arcade. Microsoft hasn't said how many of those million sales took place in the game's first 24 hours, though it did indicate that leaderboards had reached 400,000 users the first day.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was released last week as the final title in Microsoft's 'Arcade Next' promotion.
It is equivalent to the Minecraft 1.4 beta version available on PC in early 2011, and will receive free updates which have not yet been dated.
