The exploration heavy side-scrolling game features down on his luck agave farmer Juan Aguacate donning a luchador mask as he sets out to rescue El Presidente's daughter.
The story, setting and art style is highly influenced by Mexican culture, with players shifting between the world of the living and world of the dead to discover new paths and hidden passageways.
Players will discover new wrestling moves and abilities throughout the adventure to open new areas, and can team up with a friend to complete the game in co-operative multiplayer.
The game is being developed by Drinkbox Studios, who released Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack as one of the top rated Vita launch titles.
Guacamelee will be available to download through PlayStation Network later this year.
