Teased earlier this week, the video - which debuted on IGN - shows Lara Croft's struggle for survival after being shipwrecked on an island inhabited by a dangerous cult.
It concludes by revealing a new March 5, 2013 launch date. It is likely to release on Friday, March 8 in Europe.
The video reveals new gameplay elements, like hunting with a bow and arrow to survive as Lara searches the island for other survivors.
Originally scheduled for a 2012 release, Tomb Raider was recently pushed back by Crystal Dynamics.
The decision to delay the game's launch was taken in order to give the title an extra level of polish.
"We're doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve," explained studio head Darrell Gallagher.
Announced in late 2010, Tomb Raider will be an origin story for Lara Croft, seeing her shipwrecked and stranded on a Pacific island.
The open-world title will see Lara's abilities improve over time, providing her with new tools, gear and athletic prowess to access new areas of the island.
The game will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac, although a Wii U version was ruled out by the team earlier this year.
The E3 Expo will take place in Los Angeles from June 4 to June 7.
