The game will be optimised for the new MacBook, with Apple's Phil Schiller saying: "You are going to see a gaming experience unlike any you've seen before."

Apple's next generation MacBook Pro measures in at 15.4 inches across, and features a pixel resolution of 2880 x 1800, boasting a record 220 pixels per inch.

All first-party applications have been given a visual overhaul to take advantage of the new display.

Apple also unveiled next generation editions of its MacBook Air at WWDC, as well as its iOS 6 mobile operating system.

The new MacBook Pro is available now in 13-inch, 15-inch, and 15.4-inch, priced at £999, £1,499 and £1,799 respectively.

Diablo 3, meanwhile, released last month. Despite experiencing server issues at launch, the game went on to break sales records, selling 3.5 million copies within 24 hours.

After numerous delays, real-money auction houses are about to be introduced to the game, which allow users to sell loot for real cash.
