A Halo 4-themed Xbox 360 was snapped by a Flickr user at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, reports CVG.
The image on the console is the same as the one that will adorn the game's cover.
The style is notably different to previous Halo Xbox 360 consoles, however, which has led to speculation that the leaked image could be of a promotional console, or a skin.
The Halo 3 console featured the game's gold and green branding, as well as a matching wireless controller.
The 250GB Halo Reach system, meanwhile, featured a silver design, two themed wireless controllers, a standard copy of the game, an Elite armour set token and an episode of Halo Legends.
Halo 4 is set four years after the events of its predecessor and marks the return of iconic hero Master Chief, representing the beginning of a brand new saga.
It was named 'Best Shooter' and 'Best Multiplayer' during Digital Spy's Best of E3 2012 awards.
The game will be available exclusively on Xbox 360 from November 6 worldwide.
