Tentatively titled EA Sports UFC, the upcoming brawler will be developed by the newly-created "Fight Team" at the Electronic Arts studio in Burnaby, Canada.
The "Fight Team" will be helmed by Brian Hayes, whose previous credits Fight Night Round Three and Fight Night Champion.
"Most of the team didn't even know about [the new UFC game] until the announcement at E3," Hayes told Kotaku.
"We were all watching it together and when Andrew Wilson and Dana White took the stage, everybody starting cheering. It was great," he added.
UFC president Dana White announced that the firm had signed a multi-year deal with Electronic Arts at EA's live E3 press conference in June.
The deal will see EA deliver new games and content to a global audience. UFC games have traditionally been handled by THQ.
Earlier this year, UFC: Undisputed 3 was released for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It went on to top the all-format chart in the week of its release.
It followed last year's fitness title UFC Personal Trainer for Kinect.
