'Battlefield Premium' passes 1.3 million subscriptions

By
The Battlefield Premium subscription service has surpassed over 1.3 million users.

In late June Electronic Arts revealed that it had reached 800,000 users for the service, indicating a 500,000 user increase in just the last month.

Electronic Arts announced the jump in subscriptions during its 2013 fiscal first quarter financial report. However, the revenue from those subscriptions is not reflected in the quarterly report, with those numbers instead being deferred to the company's fourth quarter earnings.

Announced at E3 earlier this year, Battlefield Premium grants subscribers early access to new DLC packs for an annual fee.

PlayStation 3 owners enjoy a brief exclusivity period for new updates thanks to an agreement between EA and Sony.

The 'Close Quarters' expansion released last month, which will be followed by the 'Armored Kill' expansion in September and 'Aftermath' in December. A final DLC pack titled 'End Game' will launch in March 2013.

Battlefield Premium is available to Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 owners for $49.99 (£34.99).
