It is thought that Kinect features will extend to menu commands, teammate instructions and dynamic strategy calls.
Last week it was revealed that Jay-Z would be involved with NBA 2K13 as executive producer.
The rapper and media mogul will contribute to the "look and feel" of the title, hand-picking its soundtrack, designing the interactive menus and helping with the presentation.
The game releases for the Xbox 360, PS3, PlayStation Vita, Wii and PC on October 2 in North America. A European launch date is yet to be finalised.
It will also release for the Wii U. Listed for a "holiday" launch, it will likely be available within the first few months of the console's release.
Previous NBA 2K games have been well received, earning near-unanimous praise for their presentation, depth and polish.
