Ubisoft officially unveiled the much-rumoured title during its E3 press conference.
The game features new playable characters such as Murphy, who is controlled using the next-generation console's tablet controller.
Players swipe the tablet's screen to control Murphy, using him to clear a path for Rayman to traverse and take out enemies.
Multiplayer mode is included for up to five players, as well as support for standard Wii Remotes.
Announced for the Wii U, Rayman Legends developer Ubisoft has not ruled out a multi-platform release for the title.
