'Final Fantasy Dimensions' dated for iOS, Android - pictures

By
Final Fantasy Dimensions will release across iOS and Android devices next week, Square Enix has confirmed.

The episodic role-playing game will launch globally on August 31. The prologue is free, the first chapter costs $2.99 / £1.99, chapters 2-4 are priced at $9.99 / £6.99, while the whole thing can be picked up for $28.99 / £19.99.
Inspired by Final Fantasy games of the past, Dimensions features 2D pixel art, a job system and a story involving light, darkness and crystals.

The prologue focuses on the efforts of the "idealistic" Avalonian Empire, whose tinkering signalled a new age of prosperity following a period of war and unrest.

The release comes ahead of next month's Final Fantasy anniversary event in Tokyo, where Square Enix will announce a new direction for XIII's Lightning saga.

Key members of the Final Fantasy XIII development team including the Producer, Director and Art Director, are in preparations to present new information about the direction of Lightning's story.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase recently confirmed that new Final Fantasy XIII content would be on show at the event, but failed to offer any additional details.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama hinted at another XIII sequel, saying that the team is not finished with the cliffhanger ending of Final Fantasy XIII-2.

The publisher is also still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which has had a troubled development cycle over the past several years.
