New Super Mario Bros. Wii U to feature Boost Rush mode, seven worlds?

By
New Super Mario Bros. Wii U will feature at least seven worlds and a Boost Rush mode, it has been reported.

Confirmed worlds, according to Game Informer (via Official Nintendo Magazine), include Acorn Plains, Sparkling Waters (tropical), Frosted Glacier and Layer Cake Desert, which features melting puddings.
One of the game's worlds will be surrounded by a tornado, and there will also be levels similar to Forest Of Illusion from Super Mario World and Sky World from Super Mario Bros 3.

Levels will be accessed via one giant map, which contains a zoom function and multiple branching paths.

Once again the story revolves around Mario's quest to rescue Princess Peach, who will be guarded by a combination of Koopalings and Boom Boom from Super Mario Bros 3.

Boost Rush mode, meanwhile, sees players attempt to keep up with an auto-scrolling backdrop.

New Super Mario Bros Wii U allows four players to tackle levels together using standard Wii Remotes, while a fifth player helps out by shifting on-screen objects around with the console's tablet controller.

New social features enable players to communicate with one another in real time over an internet connection. Conversations will appear in the form of virtual post-it notes on the game's overworld map.

The game is expected to release during the Wii U launch window. The console's launch date will reportedly be announced this week.
