Formerly known as Overstrike, Fuse was officially unveiled and detailed today (September 12), following an announcement at last week's PAX event in Seattle.
Copyright: EAThe game centres around Fuse, a volatile energy source that has fallen into the wrong hands.
Having been acquired by a terrorist organisation known as Raven, up to four players can team up as members of Overstrike 9 to track down the group and retrieve the Fuse.
Each member of the group has a different ability, such as Dalton Brooks, who has a Mag-shield that acts as portable cover.
The game also has a feature called LEAP, which enables users to switch between characters during the campaign.
In addition to a number of screenshots, a trailer was also due to be released today, but was delayed because of a last-minute legal issue, Insomniac CEO Ted Price revealed.
"We had an awesome trailer planned and finished. Unfortunately a last-minute legal-rights issue has prevented us from releasing the trailer as planned," Price explained.
"EA is trying to obtain the necessary approvals and we hope to bring the trailer to you soon. After discussing internally, we wanted to stop the countdown and explain what happened.
"In the interim, we're proceeding with our other plans for the reveal. The new Fuse section of our website will be up with information and screenshots when the countdown was scheduled to end."
Announced at E3 2011 under its old name, Fuse will be the first game Insomniac has produced that will be available on multiple platforms - including the Xbox 360.
