'Grand Theft Auto 5' unlikely to release before March, claims analyst

By
Grand Theft Auto 5 is unlikely to release before March 2013, a senior research analyst has predicted.

Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian believes that the lack of information about the game and Rockstar's commitment to quality rules out a March release or earlier.
"By no means am I convinced that Grand Theft Auto V will miss March, but there are a couple of factors to consider. One, we haven't heard anything definitive from the company on release timing," Sebastian told Gamespot.

"Second, retailers typically would want four to six months lead time to prepare for a launch as large as GTA, and from what I understand, they haven't heard anything.

"Third, Rockstar rightly prioritises game quality over release date, and this dynamic could shift timing."

Despite his concerns about the timing, Sebastian is convinced that the new GTA will be a huge hit, shipping somewhere in the region of 14 million copies at launch.

Announced last year, Grand Theft Auto 5 is thought to follow the exploits of lead character Albert De Silva, played by Ned Luke.

It has previously been tipped for an October release, following a leaked developer CV.

Despite the rumours, Rockstar North has remained tight-lipped, promising more details in the coming weeks and months.

Publisher Take-Two, meanwhile, recently confirmed that the title is without a release date.
