The recently-delayed PS2 classic is currently only scheduled for a North American PSN release, although a European launch is likely to follow.
A Western release was rumoured after Sony Hong Kong outed the title last week.
Originally due to launch in August, Grand Theft Auto 3's re-release was held up while Sony sought clearance for certain audio tracks.
It was originally feared that the issue wouldn't be fixed and that the title would never be released.
Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City were re-rated for the PS3 in June.
It was the second time that the ESRB, which is the North American ratings board, had assigned age ratings to the PS2 games this year.
This week's Grand Theft Auto 3 launch would suggest that a Vice City release is not far behind.
