By
PlayStation Store is to receive a redesign next week, Sony has confirmed.

The storefront will be given a new look and additional features, and will go live in Europe on October 17 and North America on October 23.

The design sees it become more visually oriented, moving away from the original Blue colour scheme and opting for a "Hero" concept of using high-profile characters as lead images, according to VG247.

As well as making use of the entire screen to show a broader range of content, it will also more effectively scale down for standard definition TV sets.

For navigation, a carousel set-up will mean content will be easier to explore, and the search function is being described as smarter, offering a reductive list of options based on the number of letters typed.

Vita and PSP integration will offer two different catalogues of content, as data shows that most users browse by PS3 content, making sense to separate the two experiences.

It was added that grouped content will be available, displaying demos, full game downloads, themes and DLC around a single game, such as Call of Duty for when searching Black Ops.

Several new features for the PlayStation Store are being introduced in 2012, including the launch of PlayStation Mobile and PS Plus coming to Vita next month.
