More than 4 million people voted for this year's awards, almost doubling the 2.1m votes cast for last year's Guinness World Record-breaking year.
Describing the Golden Joysticks as the world's "most credible" gaming awards, associate publisher James Kick said: "It's a great testament to everyone involved that we have smashed through the 4 million vote mark.
"We set out at the start of the campaign to make the voting message spread further than ever and by almost doubling last year's record number votes, it shows the Joysticks really are the world's most credible and best-known gaming awards around.
"This year's truly look set to be the best yet!"
A total of 19 of the past year's biggest releases have been nominated - including Batman: Arkham City, Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 - across 16 awards.
