Blizzard's Mike Morhaime announced the expansion during a recent investor call, but was unable to discuss a timeline, reports Eurogamer.

"So we do have an expansion planned for Diablo," explained Morhaime.
"I don't have any timeline to talk about. I think that the most important thing for us always comes down to the quality of the expansion and the gameplay, and so that will be a big factor in terms of driving our schedule," he added.
A report leaked prior to the launch of Diablo 3 suggests that the game's first expansion pack would be released next summer, with a second to launch the following year.
Diablo 3 launched earlier this year. The game is free to users who sign up for the World of Warcraft annual pass, a yearly subscription to the popular MMO.
Despite experiencing server issues at launch, the game went on to break sales records, selling 3.5 million copies within 24 hours.
