Curiosity: What's Inside the Cube's PC release is in jeopardy, Peter Molyneux has revealed.

The debut release from Molyneux's 22 Cans studio was originally scheduled for mobiles, tablets and PCs, but has so far only released on iOS and Android.

Peter Molyneux revealed that a PC release hasn't been ruled out, but would need the support of a publisher.

"We would love to do a PC version, but we are currently snowed under by the number of people using the Curiosity experiment," Molyneux told Rock Paper Shotgun.

"This is pushing our servers to the limit. We are currently all surviving on less than three hours' sleep a night."

He added: "I guess if we could find a publisher who could take on the work of a PC version we could consider it."

The download has experienced numerous connectivity issues since launch, as the servers struggle to keep up with the number of users.

The free download sees every player chipping away at the same virtual cube in an attempt to discover what's inside.

However, only the player who performs the final tap will be able to view its contents.

The experiment will reveal whether the final player unearths the cube's contents and how they do so.

22 Cans will monitor how news of the cube's contents spreads on social media, and use the findings in a future release.

Originally scheduled for August, it was renamed due to a clash with the Mars rover, Curiosity.
