Black Ops 2 out now: Midnight launch images at HMV, GAME, Blockbuster

By
Black Ops 2 is available now worldwide.

The latest Call of Duty release saw midnight launches in GAME and Blockbuster stores as well as supermarkets nationwide.

The first person in the queue at the official HMV Oxford Street launch was Taylor Pelling, a 19-year-old student from Sutton, Surrey, who had been queuing since 5pm on Wednesday, November 7.

"I've attended a few midnight events at HMV, most recently for Diablo III, when I was sixth in the queue, but this time I was determined to be first in line," he said.

"I love Call of Duty and I know the launch is going to be pretty spectacular, so being at the front of the queue to buy it will make it an even more memorable experience for me."

GAME opened 319 stores nationwide, where any consumers picking up the game and merchandise on the evening received an additional £5 worth of GAME reward points.

Elsewhere, the Blockbuster launch in Daventry was attended by fans dressed as soldiers and zombies.

"We sold over 10,000 copies of the game in the first five minutes alone and we anticipate that our stores will continue to serve hundreds of COD fans today as the rush continues to get the latest game in this record-breaking franchise," said Blockbuster UK commercial director Gerry Butler.

Black Ops 2 reviews went live this morning, with universal praise for multiplayer but mixed impressions for the campaign.

It is available now on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and on Wii U from November 30 in Europe.
