Originally thought to be because of localisation issues, a 5th Cell spokesperson told NeoGAF users that it was "due to stuff I can't talk about until 2013".

"Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts were released NA and EU the same day. Trust me. I want your money. It's due to things outside of development," the spokesperson added.

Announced at E3, Scribblenauts Unlimited is the next game in 5th Cell's word puzzle title.

For the first time in the series, players will be able to create their own items with a detailed object editor, then use their custom objects to solve puzzles.

It was recently revealed that Scribblenauts Unlimited would include mascots from the Mario and Zelda series.

Characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Link and Zelda will behave like they do in their respective games.

Despite the Wii U delay, the game is still expected to launch on the PC and 3DS during the holiday season.
