Far Cry 3 hands-on videos: Hunting and driving on a tropical island

By
Far Cry 3 is out this week on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in Europe.

Digital Spy has gone hands-on with the open-world sequel, playing through a number of optional side-missions that populate the vast tropical island.

Supply Drop objectives have you drive from point-to-point to deliver medical supplies for bonus experience and cash.

Enemy outposts, meanwhile, can be liberated to make the local area safe from pirates, and activate new quests.

Each one can be approached from a number of ways, with our attempt using a camera to highlight enemy sentries and using stealth, before being spotted and accidentally setting fire to several buildings.

Finally, hunting quests see you track and kill rare animals in the wildness using specific weapons. Our attempted mission saw us kill a rare tiger using a bow and arrow.

Far Cry 3 returns to a tropical setting that was made famous by the first Far Cry, and features a young American who must rescue his friends from slave traders and pirates.

Our Far Cry 3 review said despite some repetition in the campaign, it is "a wonderful shooter with lots of secrets to discover and a huge game world to explore", praising the "stunning environment" and a "compelling narrative".

The game also features a four-player co-operative mode, which takes place six months prior to the events of the single-player campaign.

Far Cry 3 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 30 in Europe and December 4 in North America.
