The New Super Mario Bros. U launch trailer demonstrates the single and multiplayer game modes.
The video showcases some of the levels from the main campaign, before introducing the Challenge and Boost Rush modes.
Challenge mode features a number of puzzles and endurance missions, while Boost Rush sees the GamePad user insert platforms for fellow players.
The title can be played on the system's GamePad if and when the television is in use.
The trailer releases on the same day as Nintendo's latest console launches in Europe.

A day-one system update is needed to access its online features, including Miiverse, Wii U Chat, a dedicated Internet Browser and the Nintendo eShop.
The eShop will launch with five games, as well as two demos. To celebrate the launch of the console, Nintendo will discount a number of eShop games for a limited period of time.
