Wii U sells 40,000 units during UK launch

By
Nintendo has shifted approximately 40,000 Wii U consoles during launch weekend, it has been reported.

Wii U stock is thought to be in short supply throughout the UK, with few additional units expected to be delivered before Christmas, reports MCV.
Despite a lack of Wii U exclusives in the all-format top-ten, the console has enjoyed a software attachment rate of 2:1, figures that point towards a successful launch for Nintendo's new device.

The unofficial sales figures, which are based on retail feedback and trade sources, exclude downloadable titles from Nintendo's eShop.

Earlier today it was revealed that Wii U Premium consoles accounted for 60% of launch sales.

ZombiU bundles made up 30% of sales, compared to only 10% for the 8GB basic package.

The Wii U launched across Europe on November 30, and was released earlier this month in North America, selling 400,000 systems in its first week of release.
