'The Last of Us' release date leaked by retailer?

By
The Last of Us will launch next spring, according to North American retailer Walmart.

The retail chain is currently taking pre-orders for Naughty Dog's highly-anticipated adventure game, claiming it will arrive in the first half of 2013.
Despite dismissing the date and calling it speculation on Walmart's behalf (reports IGN), Sony recently teased a new trailer for the game, which could shed some light on the planned launch period.

Focusing on the game's story, the new Last of Us trailer will release on December 10.

Announced at last year's Spike TV VGAs, The Last of Us follows two survivors in a world turned upside down by a fungus-like virus.

The adventure will be set in a more colourful world than other post-apocalyptic games, using overgrown vegetation in cities to add variety.

Work on the project began after Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and it has been in development for over two years.

A four-issue prequel comic book series titled The Last of Us: American Dreams will also release before the game.

The Last of Us will be released exclusively on PlayStation 3 in 2013.
