Valve offers to distribute IGF finalists on Steam

By
Valve and the Independent Game Festival have announced Steam distribution for all 2013 IGF main competition finalists.

The IGF main competition includes a variety of jury-voted categories, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence In Design, Excellence In Art, Excellence In Narrative, Technical Excellence, Excellence in Audio, and the Nuovo Award for more abstract and novel game ideas.

The Steam distribution offer will extend to all finalists in those categories, rather than only the winners.

A total of 589 games were entered into the 2013 IGF, with a panel of over 200 judges working to recommend finalists in each category.

The finalists in each category will be announced in January 2013, with smaller panels of category expert judges determining the winners.

Winners will be announced in March during the 2013 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Finalists in past years have included games such as World of Goo, Braid, Super Meat Boy, Minecraft and Fez.
