The studio also hinted that a second season is planned, with rumours suggesting it will be officially announced following the conclusion of the final episode.

Spartan Ops is a co-operative multiplayer mode with a new downloadable episode releasing each week over the course of several months. Episodes for the first Spartan Ops season are free to download, and contribute to a self-contained storyline.

Halo 4 was released in November, its launch accompanied by an extravagant aerial performance in London.

The game picked up two gongs at this year's VGAs, earning 'Best Xbox 360 Game' and 'Best Graphics' prizes.
