"Season pass holders are you unable to access your Crimson Map Pack download on Halo 4? We're working hard to get you into action in the new lands! Thanks for being patient. We'll post another update in 30 minutes," reads a Microsoft service update.
The 'Crimson Map Pack' also adds new playlists and game modes, as well as eight new Achievements worth 250 Microsoft Points.
Players will be awarded for boarding and destroying an enemy Mantis, killing opponents while airborne in a Warthog and for scoring a kill while shooting from a Man Cannon.
Halo 4 was released last month, with its launch accompanied by an extravagant aerial performance in London.
The game is set four years after the events of Halo 3, marking the return of iconic hero Master Chief and representing the beginning of a brand new saga.
In addition to the single-player campaign, Halo 4 features a robust multiplayer offering through War Games, which take place on the Spartan training ship Infinity and tie into the game's story.
The game experienced a number of server issues at launch, including connection, matchmaking and ranking problems.
