Wii U TVii out now in North America, Netflix integration delayed

By
Nintendo's Wii U TVii service is out now in North America.

Nintendo TVii is a feature letting users browse and watch live television, integrate with TiVo DVRs and browse content through various streaming services in a single app.

However, the free service, which is due to launch in Europe next year, will not feature TiVo or Netflix integration until 2013.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime believes that the service will "transform and enhance the TV viewing experience", saying that users will 'never look at their TV the same way again'.

TVii also features social media integration, allowing users to post comments about shows on MiiVerse, Facebook and Twitter using the Wii U GamePad.

It was originally thought that Nintendo TVii would be included in the system's day one patch to add online features like Miiverse, Wii U Chat and the system's eShop.

The Wii U launched across Europe on November 30, and in North America on November 18. It reportedly sold 400,000 systems in its first week on sale in the UK, and approximately 400,000 in the US.
