The new year usually means a quiet few weeks (or in times past, months) to catch up on releases from the following autumn. 2013 is different, with a number of high-profile releases from the off, including DmC: Ninja Gaiden, Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and Ni No Kuni.

Released at the Wii U's launch in North America, this extended edition comes to Wii U. Many of the new features added to the Wii U version are to address issues fans had with the original game. For example, enemy dismemberment returns to the series, with enemies continuing to fight and change tactics after losing a limb. It also features an extra campaign for Ayane and touch-screen enabled features.

Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt DLC

It is the third of four pieces of campaign DLC releasing between now and June 2013.

DmC: Devil May Cry

Release date: January 15 (Worldwide)
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Don't be fooled by Dante's brand new look, the DmC: Devil May Cry protagonist has the same bad attitude, still knows how to handle a weapon and thinks nothing of picking a fight with a demon five times his size. Taking place in a parallel universe, the upcoming Devil May Cry sees Dante attempt to rid the living, breathing Limbo City of its demonic inhabitants on behalf of his brother Vergil. It's a path littered with danger, courtesy of some of the ugliest screen-filling enemies we've ever encountered.
