'Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII': New images released - gallery

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been given a number of new screenshots.

The latest Lightning Returns images show the lead protagonist Lightning making her way through Luxerion, which was described in a recent trailer as the "divine city of light and prayer".The images show Lightning conversing with NPCs, battling monsters and creeping up on enemies.

Announced earlier this year, the game will feature Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as the sole playable character.

Players will be able to customise Lightning to a greater degree than for past games in the series, including her outfits.

The story will take place across the last 13 days before the end of the world.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been rumoured for release in March 2013. However, Square Enix has denied this date, only confirming that the game will release some time in 2013.
