New options include randomised funding, rewards and stats for rookies, increased costs to build satellites, and a lengthier campaign.

A number of the options are only available after completing the game on 'Impossible' difficulty, including War Weariness, which sees funding diminish over time.

The 'Second Wave' DLC in full:
  • Damage Roulette: Weapons have a wider range of damage
  • New Economy: Randomised council member funding
  • Not Created Equally: Rookies will have random starting stats
  • Hidden Potential: As a soldier is promoted, stats increase randomly
  • Red Fog: Combat wounds will degrade the soldier's mission stats
  • Absolutely Critical: A flanking shot guarantees a critical hit
  • The Greater Good: Psionics can only be learned from interrogating a psionic alien
  • Marathon: The game takes considerably longer to complete
  • Results Driven: A country offers less funding as its panic level increases
  • High Stakes: Random rewards for stopping alien abductions
  • Diminishing Returns: Increased cost of satellite construction
  • More Than Human: The psionic gift is extremely rare
  • War Weariness: Funding goes down over time - available after finishing the game on 'Impossible'
  • E-115: Elerium degrades over time - available after finishing the game on 'Impossible'
  • Total Loss: Lose all soldier gear upon death - available after finishing the game on 'Impossible'
  • Alternate Sources: The power source cost to build facilities increases dramatically - available after finishing the game on 'Impossible'

Released last year, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a tactical sci-fi reimagining of 1994's UFO: Enemy Unknown and is developed by acclaimed strategy game studio Firaxis Games.

Previously-released DLC includes the 'Slingshot Content Pack', which introduces a set of three connected missions revolving around an alien artefact recovered by a Hong Kong Triad.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a runner-up in Digital Spy's 2012 Game of the Year countdown.
