Nintendo has also released new artwork showcasing the game's two Legendary Pokémon Xerneas (pronounced ZURR-nee-us) and Yveltal (pronounced ee-VELL-tall).

Announced during a Direct presentation by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, the games will feature more than 50 new Pokémon and contain a system called "Real Play" that "makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world".

It is likely that the two legendary Pokémon will be featured on the cover of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y respectively.

Pokémon X and Y will launch exclusively for the 3DS across all regions in October.
