'God of War: Ascension' to give early access to 'The Last of Us' demo

Sony has announced that a demo for The Last of Us is on the way, and God of War: Ascension fans will get the first chance to play it.

God of War: Ascension will feature a listing for the demo on its main menu, where users will find instructions on how to download it through the PSN store.



However, the demo will not be available right away, with Sony only saying it will arrive "at a later date". Once the demo is available, the God of War: Ascension disc will provide early access before it is more widely available in the PSN store.

God of War: Ascension will be a prequel to the original trilogy presenting a more human side of Kratos, set in a time before his desire for vengeance consumed him.

It will be the first entry in the series to include multiplayer support, enabling up to eight players to compete in a variety of game modes and customise their characters.

God of War: Ascension will be released for PlayStation 3 on March 12 in North America and on March 13 in Europe.


The Last of Us follows survivor Joel and his daughter Ellie in a world turned upside down by a fungus-like virus.

The adventure will be set in a more colourful world than other post-apocalyptic games, using overgrown vegetation in cities to add variety.

The Last of Us will be released on May 7 for the PS3, with the demo arriving some time before that date.
