'Terraria' shows new content for consoles in new trailer

By
Terraria has been given a new trailer from 505 Games.

The video highlights the new content added for the 2D exploration game's console release on XBLA and PSN.

New for the console version of Terraria will be a zoomed out world map view, new armour and ultimate weapons, new enemies and pets, an expanded soundtrack and a new final boss battle.

The console version will also be a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players, though due to the game's pixel art style and small sprites it will only be available when played on an HD television. Online multiplayer will also be supported for up to eight players in the same world.

Terraria takes place in a randomly-generated side-scrolling sandbox world, and encourages players to explore and gather resources while fighting monsters and building their own structures.

Originally released on PC in 2011, Terraria was the first game from independent studio Re-Logic. The console port will be developed by Engine Software, with 505 Games publishing.

Terraria does not yet have an official release date, but is scheduled to arrive on XBLA and PSN in early 2013.
