'FIFA 13' outperforms FIFA 12 by 23%, sells 12 million in three months

FIFA 13 outsold FIFA 12 by 23% in the third quarter of the 2013 fiscal year, it has been revealed.

Between October 1 and December 31, FIFA 13 sold more than 12 million copies, an amount which has seen FIFA become the first £1 billion franchise at UK retail.

The game also generated $100m in digital net revenue, an increase of 98% on FIFA 12, according to CVG.

The FIFA series earned more than $230m in digital net revenue through the first three quarters of fiscal 13, with FIFA Online 2 and FIFA World Class Soccer netting $60m.

FIFA sold more than 4.5m copies across all platforms in its first five days at retail - making it not only the UK's biggest game launch of 2012, but also the biggest sports game launch ever.

It dominated the all-format charts after its first weekend, selling over 1.23m copies in its first 48 hours, and was recently revealed to have topped 7.4m sales in four weeks.

FIFA 13 is available on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, Wii U, PSP, 3DS, PS2, Vita, iPhone and iPad.
