GameStick console makes six times Kickstarter goal

By
PlayJam's GameStick Android console has generated more than six times its target on crowdsourcing website Kickstarter.

The system attracted donations of $647,658 (£412,147) on a target of $100,000 (£63,637), which is enough funding to ensure that the machine will be available in four colours at launch.

GameStick Android console final design

GameStick is a fully-fledged gaming console inside a flash drive that plugs into a television's HDMI socket, and connects with a specially designed Bluetooth controller.

Around 200 Android titles optimised to run on a larger screen will be available at launch, with studios including Relentless Software, First Star Software and Disney providing software for its purpose-built store.

The console's final design and a docking station accessory were unveiled by PlayJam last month.

GameStick is expected to ship to its backers in April, and will be priced at $79 (£50) when it goes on public sale.
