GTA 5 team rubbish "conspiracy theories", no ulterior motive for delay

By
Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar has insisted that there are no ulterior motives behind the decision to delay the open-world action game until September.

In a post on the Rockstar website, a spokesperson rubbished any conspiracy theories surrounding the delay, saying that the release was pushed back in order to add extra polish.
"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they're all nonsense - literally the only reason we've delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be," the firm said.

It is believed Rockstar is referring to claims that the game has been delayed so that it can be released on next-generation systems.

Rockstar went on to say that delays were sometimes necessary for games as "massive and complex" as Grand Theft Auto 5 and that the official box art would be unveiled soon.

Announced in October 2011, Grand Theft Auto 5 will take place in Los Santos, which is loosely based on present-day Southern California.

The game features three protagonists - Trevor, Franklin and Michael - who all have their own personality, skill set and social circles to interact with that contribute to the game's overall story.

Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.
