The game will reportedly be available through GOG.com "within days," while a Steam release will follow at an undisclosed date in the coming months.

System Shock 2 was originally co-developed by Looking Glass Studios and Ken Levine's newly-formed Irrational Games in 1999.

Irrational's Bioshock series is made as a "spiritual successor" to System Shock 2, expanding on the gameplay and themes of the original game.

Electronic Arts last held rights to the System Shock series and is presumably to be the publisher for the re-release, though the company has not yet issued any comment.
