'Transformers' official website launched

The Transformers, a franchise which will soon hit both cinema and console, now has its own official game-of-the-movie website.

Once king of children's television with its famous 'Transformers, robots in disguise' signature tune, the movie of the series will open in the UK on June 4 while a video game version is currently in development for a summer release across all major platforms.

Starring two rival factions, the game lets players choose to protect the Earth as Autobots or destroy it as Deceptions, taking on the role of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Barricade and other well known characters.

“The Transformers: The Game website gives fans a unique and interactive way to experience the Transformers universe,” said Will Kassoy, senior vice president of global brand management at Activision. “Fans will become part of a global community where they can join forces with other players, chat live with other Transformers fans, as well as watch and engage in battles to capture power of the AllSpark.”

The Transformers: The Game will be released on Nintendo DS June 20, and in the summer on PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.
